One way we help helps refugee families who come to Adelaide, is by giving small tool kits. In Adelaide everyone need tools to adjust things, assemble furniture, and repair things around the house. But new people find it tricky to get tools. They are not sure which shops sell tools. Or dont know tool names in English yet .. so find it hard to ask . Thank you to Jim and Merri, who are taking the tools, to families.
Recent donation... friends going for an outback break ... bike on car roof rack.... low tree branch ! Salvageable components, we can use, to get other bikes going. Photo - Mt Ive homestead, near Lake Gairdner .... Eyre Peninsula
Some more bikes for Amber, at the Australian Refugee Association, in Salisbury.
Adelaide Community Bicycle Workshop, is run by "Bikes for Refugees" a small local registered charity, that helps Adelaide families with transport needs.
The workshop is where our volunteers fix up bikes to hand on free to people in need. .
The workshop is open to the public, to borrow tools or get help with their bikes. We also sell second hand bikes and parts.
...The workshop is the charity's main source of funding. All funds raised at the workshop go to the charity.

Busy week with extra bikes .....our volunteers got them ready, and sold over 40 on Gumtree. All money from sales goes to support the registered charity "Bikes for Refugees" who run this workshop. Funds provide free bikes for people in need; keep the workshop going; and support refugees in other ways too. Big thanks to Greg, John, Matthew, Ziggy, Will and Sean. And of course, to our bike donors.
Interesting donation...one of Adelaide's famous PORSHE bikes, complete with PipingShrike badge (many bikes have birds- the Raleigh badge is a heron).Very few PORSHEs were made ... because the Porsche car company threatened legal action, and the Adelaide firm had to change brand name and logo quick-smart. This one is now on sale as a fund raiser, along with other vintage steel Australian made bikes, from the 70s and 80s. See Gumtree Australia
