Adelaide Bike Fest 2019 – Motherload screening – October 13

With one giant leap over a last heritage wall hurdle the extraordinary City to Sea Outer Harbor Greenway route, 14 years in the making, is moments away from opening! That is worth celebrating. Bring family, friends and party vibe to Adelaide Bike Fest 2019 and join in the day’s roaming activities.

This event is all about celebrating you as a bike rider and we would love you to attend as our special guest.

Meet at Bowden Plant 4 around 11am and buy an early lunch and 2-for-1 coffee. At 12pm we will hold an official gathering to celebrate the completion of the Greenway before setting off on a festive COMMUNITY RIDE  along the Greenway at 12:15pm. Bring your party vibe, plenty of colour, tunes and smiles.  Let’s show everyone how much we love awesome bike infrastructure.

The ride ends at the Woodville Town Hall, an elegant and beautiful theatre recently restored. At 1:30pm a FREE screening of MOTHERLOAD will begin; a crowdsourced documentary about living by bike and the amazing adaptability of the cargo bike. It is a not to be missed once only screening in Adelaide http://motherloadmovie.com/welcome#trailer-section. Enjoy FREE MOVIE + POPCORN thanks to the City of Charles Sturt who are working hard to encourage people to Cycle Instead. Thank you to all Councillors for their support of our event.

A Cargo Bike Show & Shine and Test Track Loop open pre and post movie will also entertain. Bring your cargo bike and join in or take the chance to try one on the test ride loop track. Mic from MiCyles is building up an electric cargo bike for you to test ride as we speak.

Come one. Come all. Let’s celebrate.

All ages and all bikes welcome. Kid friendly ride and movie. BYO snacks for movie OK.

As a riding community this is also an opportunity to thank the Government of South Australia, City Of Charles Sturt and City of Port Adelaide Enfield for their collaboration in funding, planning and delivering this quality infrastructure project.

Families can stop along the way if needed at the newly refurbished MJ McInerney Reserve for a refresh and play.

The event is timed as a lead up to the Australian Walking and Cycling Conference in Port Adelaide on October 24 – 25 2019. http://www.walkingandcycling.com.au/

Members of the original Port BUG/BISA group that scouted the potential Outer Harbour Greenway route in 2005 will also be about to chat about this incredible project.
